Outdoor Movement in the Park
Come Nature with us at the Tech Center Park in Vancouver!
At Spears Strong we’re turning Nature into a verb. And we’re sharing our favorite ways to Nature with you. Every second Saturday of the month we are getting moving and being social in our favorite urban nature areas. Please bring your freinds, partners, family members, co-workers and help us grow our Spears Strongers!!
How do you like to Nature? Come Naturing with us.
Where: Tech Center Park (east Vanoucver- see the map)
When: Saturday, Sept. 9
8-8:30 am:: Meet at the outdoor amphitheater for some Wimhof breathing as a group (or other breathing method of choice if you are not currently practicing the WImhof breathing.)
8:30-9 am: Outdoor movement for all - guided movement. Bring your yoga mat or large towel as we’ll get down on the ground.
9-10 am: Social time. Enjoy the park as much as you like.
Please leave your pets at home for all our socials. We love animals but these socials are for humans only so everyone feels comfortable and all you have to worry about is you!
More Details Bring your own snacks or this park is right next to La Provence, which has a tasty bakery. Jonathan and I plan to get there early before the event begins to get our croissants to eat after the workout as they get pretty busy on the weekend.
Register below for the free event. And friends can register too! You will be prompted to fill out a little information and to sign our liability waiver. We will also have a printed form you can sign the day of.

Hamilton Mountain Hike or Trail Run Field Trip
Register for the Field Trip by filling out the form below!
Get out into the Columbia River Gorge for a stunning trail that includes a waterfall and spectacular views. Stop and turn around at Rodney Falls for a 2.5 mile round trip or go all the way to the top! Either way it’s a steep climb but beautiful. This Field Trip will start earlier than the others and is located in the Columbia River Gorge (near Beacon Rock).
Warmup starts at 8:15 am but we suggest getting to the trailhead when it opens at 8 am as this is a very popular trail on the weekend.
Warmup starts at 8:15 am
Cooldown 10:00 am
Waterfall Hike 2.5 miles A great option for hiking or running is to go to the Rodney Falls waterfall and then turn around for an out and back. The views and the waterfalls at the end will make it a killer experience and quite the workout. There is a bench with some views about halfway to the falls if you need a break or decide to make it a shorter hike.
Hike to the Top 6-7 miles The trail gets technical and exposed at the top with some lava rocks to cross and boulders to maneuver. The trail is rated moderate but it is the Gorge. ;) The link has directions for a loop but we will do an out and back.
Trailhead information and directions
Trail Run 6 (+) miles The run will be an out and back to the top and back the way we came. We are not doing the loop. Doing the out and back means hikers and runners should be able to see each other and cheer each other on! More trail info here
Hiking/Running in the Columbia River Gorge: Spears Strong leaders (Shelby, Jonathan, Sara) will have first aid on them but do note that this is a self-guided field trip and we might not always be near you. Be sure to bring water and food for the hike (even if you are doing the shorter version, you will want some energy). We recommend connecting with another Spears Strong (fill out your information in the table below) or bring a friend/family member so you are not on the trail alone. It is an easy trail to follow out and back whether you go to the waterfalls or the top as long as you AVOID SIDE TRAILS, in which case it could be easy to make your trip much longer. The Columbia River Gorge is wilderness and so be safe and aware at all times. Leave the headphones at home and use the opportunity to connect with friends and nature! Weather can also be unpredictable in the gorge so be sure to check the forecast for Stevenson, WA (we’ll email you closer to the day as well with updates) and wear layers.
