Trail Running Training builds confidence, chance to see PNW beauty

Want to learn how to trail run? Or maybe you already run the trails but would like to be more efficient? Participate in our Spears Strong Trail Skills Sessions this weekend so you can hit the trails with confidence and see more of the beauty that surrounds us here in the Pacific Northwest.

Spears Strong Trainer Jonathan Spears uses his experience from running trail ultra marathons and racing mountain bikes in Colorado to help you maneuver the trails with ease. Learn how to run while taking in the beauty around your rather than staring at your feet and stressing over each step.

Trail Running Training participant testimonials

I learned that running on a trail is very different than the road. By comparison the road is boring.  Being in a more natural setting away from cars is rewarding by itself but conquering a mountain trail is next level stuff...especially when you didn’t think you could do it!

I found that I can apply the skills I learned in the trail running series. The skills were both physical and mental, technical in terms of what to do with my body but also I gained confidence and an enjoyment of the experience. The feeling of accomplishment at the end of a destination run is the kicker. Not to mention going somewhere I’ve never been before.

I love to take advantage of any opportunity to get outside and explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and the Spears Strong trail running series equipped me with the skills and confidence I needed to take in the beauty around me while on the trail, rather than focusing on my feet.

Among other skills, I learned proper form for ascending and descending hills, which enables me to run more efficiently with less shock/stress to my body, and the camaraderie within the training group made the series a fun and encouraging experience.  Jonathan was diligent to provide individual instruction to each participant, while managing the overall progression of the group.

The attention to detail in planning for the skills sessions and destination runs was very thorough, including safety/first aid, healthy and delicious post-run snacks and trailvenues that have been on my bucket list for years.  After completing the series, I feel prepared to go out and explore the trails of the PNW and beyond!
