Your Movement Assessment & Postural Photos
Welcome to Spears Strong! Your first session with your Personal Trainer will be a Movement Assessment. This will take the whole hour so please be ready. All you need is to wear something you’re comfortable moving around in. You will be getting up and down off the floor but your trainer will ask you a lot of questions about your ability level right now, how you feel and will modify as needed. Your movement assessment will be similar to a low heart rate workout. Don’t be surprised if you’re sore but it’s all doable and designed to see how you’re moving so your trainer can assess any gaps in strength or flexibility. If you haven’t already, please fill out the emailed questionnaires before your Initial Health Coaching session. This is essential for your coach and trainer to be ready for your initial sessions. Anything that is not done prior we will need to use session time to complete. Postural photos cannot be done in-house and need to be submitted by you (see below).
How to take and submit your Postural Photos
Watch this video to learn how to submit your Postural Photos!
First, watch the video and read the instructions below. Please submit your photos at least 24 hours before your assessment with your trainer.
You will need to select an appropriate space at home and dress as described below.
Set your camera up 10-12 feet away from you. Stand with your feet about hip width apart.
What to wear - In order for your trainer to analyze how your body is stacking, it is best that you wear minimal/tight fitting clothing for your Postural Pictures. Examples for a man would be no shirt and shorter shorts. For women, we suggest a sports bra and short shorts or a form-fitted tank-top. You will also need to: go barefoot (take off shoes and socks), tie up long hair so that it is not covering your neck (such as a bun or up in a clip) and wear bottoms that don’t cover your knees or that can be rolled up so your knees are visible for the photos.
Submit your photos by emailing them to: support@spearsstrong.com with the subject line YOURNAME_POSHPICS, at least 24 hours before your assessment session with your trainer. Please also include your birthdate, weight and height in the body of your email. This information will only be shared with your trainer and used for your analysis.
Why Posture? Posture is your body’s easiest way of holding you up. The Spears Strong Team uses Postural Pictures as part of the assessment process to see how your body is stacking itself up and where you may have imbalances. Your trainer will use your photos as well as a Movement Assessment, a series of moves you will do to determine areas of vulnerability, gaps in strength and movement restrictions, as well as your answers to your inquiries and other factors to determine what your body needs to be able to craft your training plan so that you can reach for your goals and improve your fitness level.
